Equine Services

Below is a list of equine services provided by Animal Medical Center and related information courtesy of the American Association of Equine Practitioners.

Wellness Care
The cornerstone of general equine practice, preventive medicine is comprised of procedures such as vaccination, de-worming, dental care and nutritional consultation. These important topics are often taken for granted until a serious problem such as infectious illness or colic arises.

A vaccine program will be designed based on your horse's needs and following the American Association of Equine Practitioners guidelines. An effective deworming program is determined incorporating proper rotation of wormers and the most effective timing. Veterinarians can also help plan a nutrition program based on the health needs of the horse performing the work and eating the quality of feed and hay available to you.

Dentistry
This area of veterinary medicine has emerged as a major factor in a horse's performance, nutrition, and overall attitude. Animal Medical Center provides complete dental care using a combination of the modern power dentistry tools , hand tools, tranquilization/sedation, and a full-mouth speculum

Geriatric Care
Due to significant advances in equine health care and diagnostics, horses are living longer, and as they do, they require care unique to the older horse. With preventative medicine and meticulous care from their owners, horses are competing later in life. Not only are horses living longer, but their quality of life has improved.

Animal Medical Center offers complete preventative program including maintenance and diagnostic services designed for the welfare of the aging horse. Early detection and implementation of a medical management program are key to monitoring the aging process in horses. Early diagnosis of subtle changes begins with a base line measurement for future comparisons, which later helps extend the health of your horse.
