Lance Roasa, DVM, MS
Dr. Lance Roasa was born and raised on a farm and ranch in central Texas. After completing a Bachelor’s of Science of in Biomedical Science he finished a Master’s of Science in Veterinary Physiology and Pharmacology at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. He completed his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M. After working in Gilbert, Arizona as an associate veterinarian he and Abby moved to Animal Medical Center in July of 2009. He enjoys Teller County, hiking with his beagle, CR and snow-skiing the local resorts.
Dr. Roasa believes that your veterinarian should be your partner for the heath-care of your pets. He understands that your pet is a family-member and should be treated as such. He wants to you to fully understand all diagnostic test and treatments for your pet and will only recommend necessary tests, procedures and medicines. Abby Obermiller, DVM
Dr. Abby Obermiller was born and raised on a cow calf ranch in central Nebraska where she developed a love for animals at an early age. While growing up she was active showing horses and cattle. In 2004 she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Veterinary and Biomedical Science with a minor in Animal Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In 2008 she graduated with honors from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Obermiller completed a one year internship in equine medicine and surgery at Arizona Equine Medical and Surgical Centre a specialty referral practice in Gilbert, Arizona.
Her professional interests include equine sports medicine, reproduction, and internal medicine. She is currently training at Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine to become certified in veterinary acupuncture. Dr. Obermiller’s personal interests include spending time with her family including five nephews, riding horses, reading, and hiking.
Drs. Roasa and Obermiller take pleasure in routinely volunteering their medical and surgical skills to help horses and small animals at the Havasupi Indian Reservation and Loreto, Mexico, B.C.S.
Dr. Shayna Warner, DVM, Ph.D.
Dr. Shayna Warner was born and raised in Woodland Park, Colorado where she grew up on a horse ranch training, riding and showing Morgan horses in English and Western disciplines. She was also very active in the local Teller County 4-H and the Pikes Peak Pony Club.
Dr. Warner graduated from Woodland Park High School in 2000. She completed a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Microbiology from Colorado State University in 2005, to be followed by a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from CSU in 2010. Throughout her undergraduate work and veterinary school she worked as an Emergency Medical Technician with Poudre Valley Ambulance in Fort Collins, Colorado. During this time she also spent 6 years working in a BioSafety Level 3 Containment facility where she worked with infectious agents studying zoonotic diseases as a research associate in a immunological and microbiological laboratory at CSU. Her summers were spent in Hamilton, Montana training horses and working with the National Institutes of Health at the Rocky Mountain Laboratories where she furthered her experience working with and studying infectious agents for government funded vaccine programs.
After veterinary school, Dr. Warner moved to the south where she completed a year long Equine Medical and Surgical Internship at Mississippi State University in the fall of 2011.
Her specific professional interests include equine sports medicine and lameness, equine critical care/internal medicine and small animal emergency. She is very passionate about teaching and mentorship with students.
In her spare time, she enjoys outdoor activities such as snowboarding, fishing, hiking, working with cattle, showing/riding horses. She feels very blessed to have a great family, including her 3 nieces and 1 nephew, her friends, along with her Morgan gelding, ‘Cowboy’ and two Wiemaraners ‘Kiya’ and ‘Brantley’.
She is very happy to be back in Teller County and looks forward to working with and meeting our vast array of clientele as she enjoys the daily excitement and challenges of mixed animal practice.
